Knitted ties since 1932
At Carlo Fumeo, it still rattles and hums like in the founding year of the traditional manufactory in 1932: The impressive machinery, the traditional workflows, the finest quality with the highest standards - nothing has changed in the manufacturing methods.
Material and dimensions
On historical circular knitting machines, we produce our knitted ties (100% silk) in Lombardy. Depending on the model, the width is approximately 8 - 8.5 cm. Most ties have hand-sewn tips both front and back. The back is always reinforced with grosgrain ribbon.
The Revival of the Knitted Tie
The history of the knitted tie begins in the 1920s. Initially made of wool, later often made of silk. Our manufacturer near Milan purchased his circular knitting machines in Germany in the early 1930s - and produces the finest knitted ties just as he did back then.
