The little white carnation on the buttonhole

Hardly to be surpassed in symbolism: white carnations have been a symbol of marriage and love since the Middle Ages. It is therefore the right choice as a boutonnière for the groom to the wedding. Pan Tau, the hero of the TV series of the same name from the 1970s, also wore the white buttonhole, but was not married. The white carnation is traditionally worn with a tuxedo (black tie) and tailcoat (white tie) and therefore has a black stem. If it suddenly peeps out from under the lapel, it remains somewhat unnoticed.

There is an almost forgotten craftsmanship in every buttonhole (cannot be compared in the least with products from Far Eastern countries). Plastic is not used; every flower is built up properly and not simply plugged together or glued on. Even today, recipes that are up to a hundred years old serve as the basis for fabric coloring.
