The triple bud in the buttonhole

A flower with many names: Bachbenedikt, Blutströpferl, Herrgottsbrot, Herzwurz, Kapuziner, Wasserwurz and Kaminfegerchen. But let's leave that. In the buttonhole of the (elegant) gentleman, these three buds with their natural, and of course hand-dyed, color gradient look really good. Elaborately worked: the green silk foliage.

The manufacture of the boutonnière

In every flower there is an almost forgotten craftsmanship (absolutely not to be compared with products from Far Eastern countries). Plastic is not used here; every boutonnière is built up and not simply put together or glued on. Recipes up to a hundred years old serve as the basis for dyeing the fabric.

Very successful, however

a festive occasion is needed for such a bundle. Maybe a bit too elaborate or dandy-like for every day. Otherwise very nice and maybe I'll "dare" myself more often soon. The decision is made spontaneously every morning in front of the mirror. You have to feel like it. Otherwise fully recommended. For the somewhat high price, I deduct a point in humility before the fine craftsmanship.

High quality handwork

The price seemed a bit high to me, but the quality and beautiful craftsmanship shows in the details. The box is well made and easy to use. This was definitely not my last purchase.

Berlin boxes

The boutonnière boxes are made for us in the Neukölln district by one of the oldest family businesses in Berlin, founded in 1869 as a hat box manufacturer. High-quality fine cardboard packaging with tradition - in the fifth generation.

The archive

Here, carefully preserved for more than a hundred years, are the historical stamping molds that are still used today. Each buttonhole flower is created by hand. Each boutonnière is a unique piece that should be protected from moisture and rough handling.

The making

Handicraft from Saxony

In every boutonnière lies an ancient craftsmanship - since 1834. Not to be compared with products from the Far East. No plastic. The flower is carefully constructed and not just assembled or glued. Old original recipes serve as the basis for the silk dyeing.
